Girl, nine, used as human bomb

A girl of nine has told how she escaped Pakistani terrorists who tried to use her as a human bomb.
Sohana Jawed said she was kidnapped on her way to school in Peshawar, and forced to wear a remotely-controlled suicide jacket. But she escaped her captors as they prepared to send her towards a paramilitary checkpoint.
Sohana, wearing her a blue and white school uniform, recounted her ordeal during a news conference with police in Lower Dir district. Militants in Pakistan have often used young boys to carry out attacks, but the use of young girls is rare.
Sohana said she was going to school on Saturday when she was grabbed by two women and forced into a car carrying two men. One of the kidnappers put a handkerchief on her mouth that knocked her unconscious, she said in an interview with a local TV station.
"This morning, the women and men forced me to put on the heavy jacket and put me in the car again," said Sohana.
The suicide jacket contained nearly 20lbs of explosives and seemed to be designed to be set off remotely, Lower Dir police chief Salim Marwat said.

President Obama and Speaker John A. Boehner played their much-anticipated golf match as a team Saturday, defeating Vice PresidentJoseph R. Biden Jr. and Ohio Gov. John Kasich in an outing with high-stakes political overtones.
The White House said in a statement that the president and Mr. Boehner defeated their counterparts on the 18th hole, each winning $2.
“The foursome had great time and really enjoyed playing golf,” the statement said.
After their round at Joint Base Andrews, the foursome went to the patio of the clubhouse where they enjoyed “a cold drink, some of the U.S. Open coverage and visited with service members.”
The pairing of the president and Mr. Boehner on the same team avoided the question of whether the speaker shot a better round than the commander-in-chief. Mr. Boehner is acknowledged to be a better golfer, shooting in the low 80s.
There was no word on whether the leaders cleared the air on the federal budget and other matters.

BOEHNER GIVES OBAMA ULTIMATUM ON LIBYA

Stepping up a simmering constitutional conflict, House Speaker John A. Boehner warned President Obama on Tuesday that unless he gets authorization from Congress for his military deployment in Libya, he will be in violation of the War Powers Resolution.

In a letter sent Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Boehner, the top Republican in the constitutional chain of succession, said Mr. Obama must provide a clear justification by Friday for committing troops to Libya.

Sunday marks the 90th day since the president notified Congress that U.S. troops had been committed to help enforce a no-fly zone overLibya, which is designed to protect the rebels fighting Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s government.

“The Constitution requires the president to ‘take care that the laws be faithfully executed,’ and one of those laws is the War Powers Resolution, which requires an approving action by Congress or withdrawal within 90 days from the notification of a military operation,” Mr. Boehner said in the letter.

The White House has repeatedly said it has complied with the law by alerting Congress to the initial deployment, and by testifying at more than 10 hearings and providing 30 follow-up briefings about the pace and extent of U.S. troops’ commitment.

But the administration has never sought approval from Congress.
